This is a great read by one of my patients (I can say that because in the book she goes into some detail about our therapy together). Fiona confronts herself fully as she writes with candour and humour about her journey through a diagnosis of breast cancer with the loss of both breasts and – as she felt at the time – her sexuality.
I read an early draft and was impressed by her colourful style (typical Fiona) and her ability to convey the nuances of her journey and engage the reader as she went deep into her identity and rebuilt herself. Ultimately she learns that self-acceptance and vulnerability are the essential foundations for life, love and any meaningful relationship.
